Fans of "HASH IT OUT WITH JANE" unite to save Autistic Teen

Robert and his parents.
On this episode of "HASH IT OUT WITH JANE" I interviewed the mother of a teenage boy with Autism who receives health care coverage under Medicaid, Medicare, and Physicians Plus private insurance and is being denied a life saving operation.  This is not acceptable.  His name is Robert Moldenhauer and he  needs a kidney transplant.  He has a willing donor ready to provide the much needed organ.

The following Plan of Action will hopefully force communication between Medicaid, Medicare, Physicians Plus, and Boston Children’s Hospital so that a solution may be found and Robert Moldenhauer can have the life saving operation that he desperately needs.

For the convenience of all participants in this Plan of Action, I have written a letter which briefly states the message we are trying to convey.  Feel free to copy, paste, modify, and send it to whom ever you choose to contact.

INSERT RECPEINT'S NAME

I am writing to you on behalf of Robert Moldenhauer.  He is a fourteen-year-old Autistic boy who is a resident of Wisconsin and is receiving out-patient treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts. Robert is currently experiencing kidney failure and is in desperate need of a transplant.  A donor is standing by to offer him the needed kidney.

While Robert is covered under Medicaid, Medicare, and Physicians Plus, the surgery is being put off because none of the above parties are willing to pay for it.  This is not acceptable.  A solution needs to be found immediately because Robert Moldenhauer does not have the luxury of time.

Please intervene and help the Moldenhauer family.  They can be contacted through their Facebook page, located @ https://www.facebook.com/savesunshine

Sincerely,
INSERT YOUR NAME
Robert Maldenhauer

Autism and Asperger's Syndrome - Do you get it?

thAutcast

Over the past few years I have become increasingly more aware of Autism and Asperger's Syndrome.  I've read a little about it and I had talked to a few folks who either worked with people who were Autistic or had a family member with either Autism or Asperger's Syndrome.  Although I found it all very interesting, I really didn't 'get it.'

Then I started corresponding/conversing with those who are actually Autistic or have Asperger's.  This does not in the least make me an expert yet, I think I get it now.  I get that Autism and Asperger's Syndrome are two mysterious and fascinating states of being that our simple minds need to label as diseases or disorders because we don't seem to possess the proper language or intellect to really understand them.

My point here is, if you really want to know what Autism and Asperger's Syndrome are, talk to those who identify with those terms.  The Autistic Self Advocacy Network would be a great place to make such connections.

Episode 17 of “HASH IT OUT WITH JANE” on KUSF-IN-EXILE - featuring Mark Romoser

This episode was exceptionally interesting for me to put together because it was my first time interviewing / having a conversation with an Autistic person.  Mark Romoser is a brilliant man who is a real asset to the Autism Tolerance 'movement.'  This show has definitely changed my perception of Autism!
